Relationship Advice on
Unspoken Expectations
We don’t know who said it, but we
believe it’s true that “unspoken expectations are the
minefields of marriage.”
So you have every right to wonder if…
He expects you to read his
mind and know what he wants without asking. Women
are often accused of saying “If you loved me, you’d know what I
want…”
But men are just as bad about it, although
they’d probably never articulate it in the same words as a
woman.
There are certain expectations in a
relationship that are “givens.”
Fidelity and honesty are tied for Number
One.
Emotional support and concern for physical
well-being are high on the list.
At some point, it's probably reasonable for him
to expect you to know that he likes his salad dressing on the
side, and he should know that you can’t stand horseradish.
But should he know expect you to know
intuitively what kind of fishing lure he wants for his
birthday? Or that his mother thinks your earrings are tacky and
you should never wear them in her presence again?
That’s asking a little much, isn’t it?
